Hey guys, for those of you who didn't want to shell out $249.99 for a 3DS, there may be good news on the horizon. Starting August 12, 2011, the Nintendo 3DS will see a price drop to $169.99 (US). That's an $80 price drop. Also note that anyone who buys the 3DS BEFORE the price drop takes effect, will be eligible to receive over $120 worth of FREE games from the Virtual Console on the 3DS. All you have to do is buy a 3DS before August 12, 2011 and download a system update that will sign you into the Ambassador Program so you can get your freebies!
I recommend buying a 3DS a few days BEFORE the price drop, download the system update and join the Ambassador Program. Then on August 12, 2011 go back to the store with your receipt and get your $80 credit due to the new lower price taking effect during your refund period. You will have actually paid the new low price of $169.99 and STILL gain the freebies worth over $120.

I would say the same showtime but it almost seems like sony doesn't BOTHER competing anymore.

Meh, I could afford getting the 3DS since the price drop...but like I said when I heard of this last week, I'm still gonna wait until some 3DS Lite or whatever comes out with about 9 different color options.

I dunno about 3Ds the concept is good 3D without glasses and all that jazz. But does 3d really make a difference, I'd be happy if Nintendo released this but without the 3D (I know you can turn it off).
Also with portable gaming these days (PS Vita and 3Ds), the portable gaming IMO does not really have a big impact today as it did when the game boy was out. Having games on the iOS and mobiles is fun and all but it is really just to pass time. I don't see why handhelds need a big price tag on them.
