There is a way to hold Struggle Submissions for maximum effect without the AI constantly breaking out of them (and potentially negating all the damage you just tried to do). Just watch the Analog Nub icon on-screen closely, and you'll see it rocks back and forth at a steady, metronome-like pace. Each incremental movement occurs at one-second intervals. With a Submission rating of 80, you can hold a Struggle Submission on an AI opponent who does not have an active Resilient state for SEVEN seconds. Any longer, and they'll break out (at the eight-second mark).

Once they enter their Resilient state (if they're equipped with the ability, of course), they can kick out roughly 40 percent faster, so you can only hold a Struggle Submission in place for four seconds, rather than seven. The Resilient state takes hold for those who have the ability when their total stamina dips below 50 percent (ergo, they've absorbed roughly half the maximum damage they can take before being "out of the match"), and lasts until they've only got a quarter-tank of "gas" left. The higher your Durability attribute, the more damage you can take before entering your Resilient state, and the longer it takes for you to be forced out of the Resilent state.

As for Kip-up, once a fourth of your total stamina is depleted, you will start to see a Kip-up icon on-screen when you're knocked down hard enough to not be able to get back up right away. Of course, you can only use Kip-up once during the whole match, but it's a lot like the whole "Momentum Shift" idea from WWE: Day of Reckoning.

The Leverage Pin ability kicks in when your opponent has absorbed 25 percent of the maximum damage they can take (ergo, their "Kip-up point"). To be able to counter a leverage pin attempt performed on you, your opponent also has to be in a state where they themselves can be leverage-pinned (75 percent or less stamina remaining). Otherwise, you simply have to try to kick out of it.
