Personally I like it, but doesn't look quite complete to me, and I'm not sure what to work on.

V2

V3

Plain Stock
Plain Render

Not Changing
- Text (from V3)

Well, it looks like you just cut out the band and pasted it on the stock. Maybe added a blur onto the band as well. The cut itself is kinda jagged too. There's not a whole lot to it. Read some tutorials or something. It's bland.

oww this gave me an idea.... i want to make a greenday sig. or... maybe a Nickel back sig....
dont ask me why...

um this is a very very very bland piece just like ollie said..

its bland... it does look like you made a new document made your colors black and green did the clouds... pasted the band over it and added text and a border

Well I mucked around with colors ALOT by saturating, contrasting, darkening etc. Look at the difference between the plain bits and the artwork. But thanks anyway I'll work on it a bit more now, the cut was incredibly hard. :)

BTW: Which text positioning do you like better?

First. How did you cut it? Did you use the magnetic lasso? Or did you use the eraser? I'd recommend using the lasso for the majority of it and using the eraser to get around hard parts like their hair. By doing that, it'll retain it's shape and not look so jagged around the hair.

naw the pen tool work alot better IMO simply because you can control it and it's easier to work wit, the lasso is so unpredictable.....

Well thats the Bullet For My Valentine font, how should I position it?

EDIT:
**V1 Removed**
**V3 Added**

I really like the text for V3, and I really don't wanna change it. :P I mucked around with the colors more in V3 and reposition the background so it looks better, I also changed the size of the sig. I hope these changes are good.

It was a hard cut and half of the reason it looks terrible is not because I did a shabby job but because they had shiny spots in their hair which I forgot to dull out in V1 & V2.

I reckon it looks cool, but I will muck with that again and see what I come up with.

Well unless you want the text overlapping their heads...

Looking back at that now, I agree.

Ok, what do I cut with? K-Fire said pen tool which I'm really not good with, Ollie said magnetic lasso which either means the quick selection tool (selects pretty much everything) or the lasso (WTF lol) so can somebody please tell me what is the best tool to use to cut and more importantly, how to cut with it. So tommorow I will completely restart with the render and background hopefully will do alot better this time.

use the lasso tool to free-select around the render...it will go to a selection and you just cut it....zoom in and erase the small pixels that remain

Text is better in the newest version. The rest of it still has the same problems.

I meant polygonal lasso, btw. Not magnetic.

Ok, how to access and use? Just a name is pretty useless to me.

Yeah I will re-do this eventually this week.

So, status:
Text... Done
Render... Needs to be re-done
Background... Needs to be re-done

The polygonal lasso is with the other lasso tools near the top left... you are using PS aren't you?
I don't have PS handy or I'd take a screen.

Yeah, thanks I've found it now. But I don't get how that helps actually cutting, it just seperates what needs cutting from the background.

Try putting a gradient map over the renders, to make them blend in more, it looks like a BG and renders, Also, try making the color stand out a bit more, It would bring a better feel to the whole sig.

Yeah, ok I'll try that when I get around to redoing the peice.

No, I was told never to use the eraser to cut, so I thought there must have been some other tool to cut with.

Sorry I'm late but I've had my hands full in real life lately, expect a new peice next week probably.

I use the polygonal lasso to cut around whatever I'm cutting. (Zoomed in of course) If there's long hair or something liek that, I'll use one of the soft erasers to cut around that so it retains its "wispy" feel.
