HIM is an pop/alternative rock band from Finland, was formed in 1995 by vocalist Ville Valo, along with Mikko Viljami "Linde" Lindström and Mikko Henrik Julius "Migé Amour" Paananen. Their musical style is often referred to as Love Metal by Ville Valo and the fans. They were sky-rocketed to popularity by Bam Margera, who uses the heartagram as his own logo.

The band started as a cover band covering bands like Type O Negative, KISS, Black Sabbath and Depeche Mode. The name HIM originally stood for His Infernal Majesty; a name taken straight from a horror movie. Ville Valo denies any Satanic intent. After many lineup changes, the band now consists of Valo, Linde, Migé, their 3rd Keyboardist Janne Johannes "Burton" Puurtinen, and their 2nd drummer Mika Kristian "Gas" Karppinen. The band is also widely recognizable by their heartagram design. It consists of a heart and a pentagram, which symbolizes the contrast between life and death or love and hate or even love and death together. Ville has also said that "the heartagram stands for HIM as a band, as an entity, and for 'love metal' in general." Valo claims the band is a "love metal band". Proving a common conception perpetuated by their sign, Ville Valo has claimed himself, that HIM is not a satanic band.

In May 2006, Valo announced in U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine that H.I.M. will start recording a new studio album this summer. Contents
