Wanting topics to be posted in the right areas instead of condensed into one shitty thread has nothing to do with a drive for new members! It has everything to do with wanting topics to be posted in the correct area to encourage discussion amongst the remaining members of this site.
CDX isn't a shoutbox - it is a forum, always has been and always will be. If you want a shoutbox for endless discussion then go create your own free forum, put a shoutbox up and have fun. CDX will not be limited to that. The worthless thread isn't a discussion topic it is a spam topic, created for people to spam in.
Discussions are meant to be presented in their own topics in their own dedicated section. If there isn't a section for it then posting in RI is acceptable.
Also, people keep bitching about "all the rules" - this forum has a total of 5 rules tops:
1. post individual discussions in their own thread and not in the worthless thread.
2. post topics in the correct section.
3. no porn and nothing illegal.
4. No flaming, no spaim - unless posted in the worthless thread.
5. Follow rules 1-4 and they'll be no reason for staff to bitch at you.
Now, I'm not driving for new members, if others want to do that then they can. Do I want new members? Sure! But we've got a long way to go until we can specifically make a drive for new members. All I'm interested in is this forum getting back to being a forum! So what if we only have 20 active members? That is still enough to make these boards functional to the point that they don't have to be condensed into the worthless thread.
IF you've got something to say to one person - and only that person will get it and talk about it - then hello! What is the private message function for?
Now, this threat from certain people claiming to ditch CDX if this topic is closed because all they care about is the worthless thread? Frankly you can leave if you want. We might be hard up for members but I know that I won't pander to this kind of person and neither will the other admins. If the worthless thread is the only piece of crap you give a damn about then if/when it is closed and you feel like leaving that isn't a loss to us and we won't lose sleep over losing this kind of member.
What we have left is a close knit community and I would hope that the community actually wants to have proper conversations about things that interest them - be that games, wrestling, media or other general interest subjects. IF this is the case then we don't need the worthless thread, the clue is in the name, it is worthless. Anything that has been discussed in here could have been made into a topic or a private conversation depending on the subject matter. Now, particularly those discussions that could have been made in to topics are the ones that I want to actually be made into topics around the boards because that is why those boards are there.
It isn't a hard rule and isn't an unfair request. All I'm asking and all the legends and the rest of the admin team are asking is that you spend a few seconds more of you time to post a new discussion in a new topic instead of flooding this spam thread. How anyone finds that unreasonable is beyond me considering we aren't stopping you from talking about anything, we just want the forums to be used as forums.

Again though, the desire to have topics put in there right place isn't really about luring in new members it is just about getting the forum organized and working like a proper forum again instead of one topic getting all the attention with its shoutbox type qualities.

@ Simon, we've deleted a lot of old threads, we're aiming for a fresh start the worthless thread being deleted was a small oversight during the pruning process... oops.
Any way back off topic... I'm hungry... losing 100lbs will do that to a guy.
