One half of the legendary Outkast duo, Big Boi, has announced that he has completed 17 songs for his solo sophomore album Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader.

While speaking to JuniorOnline.com Big Boi revealed that he could literally drop the project today if he wanted to but he would rather wait. “I’mma marinate on it because I’m on the road. I feel good about it, all the music’s sounding great,” he explained.

When asked about the sound and direction of the new album, Big Boi said, “S-A-X-X-X triple assassin, and the beats are going to be as hard hitting as always. I’mma let everything else be a surprise, and just let it speak for itself.”

When pressed for more information about who fans could expect to hear on the album, he would only confirm that singer Janelle Monae would be present.

"She’s somebody whose hand you don’t have to hold," Big Boi said. "She’s got a creative mind, she’s got a great spirit. She’s a good girl and I’m proud of her. She’s making me very proud."

Realistically, expect Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader, the follow-up to last years critically acclaimed Sir Lucious Leftfoot: Son of Chico Dusty, to be released before the end of the year.

Big Boi can next be seen performing at the Golden Gate Park Outside Lands festival, which is taking place August 12th thru the 14th in San Francisco, CA. He will then be heading to Australia for several tour dates.

In related news, the other half of Outkast, Andre 3000, is said to be hard at work on his own solo album.

The Atlanta, GA duo should be getting back together in the studio shortly to begin work on a new Outkast album, which is rumored to be released sometime in 2012.
