Reported by: Ryan Clark
As noted earlier, Time-Warner has placed a $33 million bid to buy the assets of Midway Games, which recently produced the "TNA Impact" video game. Time-Warner would not be buying the rights to have the TNA video game. Samoa Joe stated in a recent interview with ESPN.com that production for "TNA Impact 2" is currently underway. The belief at this point is that whatever is left of Midway that is not sold to someone else would finish the game or the title would just be dropped.

Obviously THQ is out of the question so who would you guys like to see make it? I think it would be interesting to see it made by Activision considering the quality of Call of Duty Modern Warfare or even Rockstar who only have 2 big games. Midway did not do TNA justice but I guess it was a start.

Anyways, I say AKI should make it, considering their prior history with wrestling games. Rob will post the other facts I'm sure :P

I heard Rockstar was in the running though.

Someone's on their period....

Anyways, for the TNA game, I think they should make #2 only if it's not produced by Midway....they are great with graphics but everything else sucks.....

EDIT: I just noticed it said who should make TNA iMPACT! 2 not should....

Back to the question. TBH I would really like to see what Rockstar could come up with, at times they can be really innovative, or they can pull out garbage like GTAIV, so it would be a toss up.

After playing TNA iMPACT! for alittle bit, it has potential to be a good wrestling franchise, as I recall the first 4-5 Smackdown games weren't very good, and the SvR series hasn't been amazing at all. If TNA could get the right developer (which I thought Midway was a mistake in the first place), then they can compete with WWE games.

Too me the reason TNA failed was because not many people are familar with the TNA product and weren't willing to pay $60-$70 for something they don't really know much about. TNA could seriously go the opposite route (kind of like what 2K did against EA) and charge half of what WWE charges for there games, I think that would have sold more units, aswell as not had so many complaints about the game. Oh well.

^ It definately aint gonna be them because they went bankrupt after LOW 3.

I hope that Impact 2 gets made by good developers who are smart & listen to fans. Then maybe future games would be great.

Maybe they should add CAW mode to the PS2 Version (Main Reason I didn't buy the game) & make things realistic like Abyss not being able to do a Hurricurana.

Lol Capcom.

"Horror Zombie Battle Royal".
Actually, THQ did that last year....

You know what, as long as it isnt THQ or EA developing it, it'd still wind up getting it.

Since the controls where Arcad'y, how about Namco? Tekkan style ass kicking with turnbuckles!

I don't see it being possible for anyone to not copy and paste when it comes to franchise/sports games. EA and THQ improves the gameplay and adds features as far as I'm concerned if EA and THQ copy and paste than every other gaming company does the same because it totally stupid to constantly remake the game over and over again and get it done within a year.

Your statement doesn't make sense at all. So your saying you think it's stupid if a game developer remakes the game every year, instead you would rather see them copy & paste.

1. The WWE isn't a seasonal sport it goes on 365 days a year so do they really need to dish out a "new" game every single November???

2. Madden hosts probably around 800-1200 Football players, compared to SvR who probably has around 80 Superstars in total, so EA really has no choice with Copy & Pasting. On the other hand with Yukes, we shouldn't see the same model for Triple H, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, etc, every single year (for the past 4-5 SvR's) when they have such a small roster compared to anyother Sport game.

Unless I'm misinterpreting, he's not saying what he WANTS to see, but rather what the Developers would rather do, and he's right, no developer is gonna remake a game completely different, unless they're struggling against the competition [example: Fifa got stale due to copy & paste, PES crept in and became top dog, FIFA reinvented itself completely because it had to for business and seemed fresh, became the top dog again, PES is stale and yet to reinvent self in a big way]

As long as they make money, that's all that counts.

THQ improves the gameplay
No In a normal match it's still the same each the only difference is the controls. They add new matches yep but what about the core gameplay. THQ does not have to spam a game out EVERY year if they put time and effort into a Smackdown maybe it will be good.

As long as they make money, that's all that counts.
Correct THQ get rich this way its the THQ cycle.

1. Copy an paste the last SVR
2. Improve one feature eg tag team
3. Spam screenshots every gets happy because of T3H GRFIX
4. Finish Game
5. Slap someone with Roids on the front cover
6. $$$
7. Make another Smackdown (1)
