Chicago-based Midway Games announced today that THQ has bought the rights to Midway’s San Diego video game studio, which developed the first TNA Impact video game. THQ is the long-time video game producer for WWE’s line of “Smackdown vs. Raw” video games and other WWE titles.

The San Diego studio was excluded from Time Warner’s purchase of Midway Games several weeks ago. TNA’s video game franchise was homeless until THQ bought the rights to the studio, pending approval by a judge.

“The deal with THQ is subject to approval by the judge overseeing Midway’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings,” the Chicago Tribune reported. “THQ and Warner Bros. also have to sign an agreement to share certain intellectual property. The regulatory filing said the two companies already have agreed on terms.”

Mmmmmmmmm

If its not the same guys that make SvR (Like the way they spilt for SR2 for example, an awesome game BTW) then they COULD do something.

But this is great! Now they will more than likely include TNA moves in this years game! (For entrances they could label them Athletes? TNA??)

Can't be any worse than that boring TNA game Midway made

And, before you say that THQ are the gays in reaction to this post, I enjoy SvR and Legends of Wrestlemania. So sue me.

Midway made TNA more fun than SvR. TNA just lacked matches and decent CASs.

If you give the original TNA game a few more match types, a better CAW mode and more varied moves, it would have been awesome. It was fun to play, I loved the arcade style with the realistic graphics and the story mode was pretty good despite not being original.

Yet we continue to buy their wrestling games

Also just to be clear about this. They only bought the studio, but to my knowledge doesn't mean they get the license to the TNA game.
